In tomorrow’s call for slices, I will highlight my in real life writing community. Over the next three days, I will spotlight three friends that work at the school up the hill from my school. In my post here, today, I will write about two slicers that work in my building.
“Hey Peter!” I called down the hall. Peter was reentering the library after dismissal and out of the corner of my eye, I also saw Dawn coming down the hall ready to go home for the weekend.
Peter turned to look at me and started to walk in my direction. “What would you do for a slice?” I asked loud enough for the approaching Dawn to hear. She laughed.
I explained to Peter that just moments earlier, Dawn had shared that she was signed up for puppy yoga in the morning. “I don’t want to go,” she had said. “But I might do it for a slice.”
This made me question what people would do/ go through for a slice of life post, in week three of a 31 day challenge. Hence, my question to Peter.
I suppose we will have to wait for tomorrow to see what Dawn would do for a slice of life!
I’ve written this post before…in 2022. Same title. Same predicament. Three Slicers Meet in the Hallway
Where in the World am I Writing From: Sitting at our kitchen island at 9pm. Still wearing my jacket. Squeezing out a slice before crashing. Still writing on my phone instead of my brand new laptop!

This made me smile so much 😊 I love how you showed your writing community right in that hallway moment. I can really relate to those quick conversations about slices with coworkers, it feels so real. It made me think about what I would actually do for a slice too lol. Now I’m curious what Dawn ends up doing 😂

Oh, the things we would do for a slice when we’re 2/3 through! Puppy yoga, book bar coding… writing a post we’ve already written. 😂 Glad you got a new laptop (but sorry you needed it).

Thought the title to this post was the setup for a joke. ;0
It’s really great to share this space with colleagues who happen to be in the same building, the random ‘collisions’ are so much more meaningful. We’ve encouraged our co-workers to join the SoL but I know folks worry that it’s too much for an already hectic load. It’s now just a part of March for me and truly helps me walk my talk with my students.

I fully believe that the number of yeses to try something because of a slice increases in March. How wonderful that you have a small in person slice community.

Ha! So true- What would you do for a slice? We were going to Providence today to see Maura play field hockey. Yes, it would have been another day trip to write about. I’ll be on the lookout for a new happening today!

Glad Peter and I provided a moment and you sat down to squeeze out a slice. Time will tell if the puppies pour onto the page!

I’ve written at some point that March makes me not only notice life a little differently, but also LIVE a little differently to conjure up some slices. Love that it’s the case for others, as well. Puppy yoga sounds like it could produce a slice and maybe more than one!

Hmmm….You have me thinking…What would I do for a slice. I was thinking of taking a Carbone style road trip to the bread lady that Melanie wrote about! That could be a slice!

I love this question – what would you do for a Slice? Makes me think – what comes first, the experience or the thought of writing about the experience. Clever twist! Also love that you work with SLicers. I do too and it really builds a strong community!

I’m hearing What Would You Do For a Slice of Life to the tune of What Would You Do for a Klondike Bar in my head. Puppy yoga sounds like something I would do even if there were not a slice involved – – that sounds amazing! I can’t wait to hear more.

I’m glad you have a new laptop. It should be good for at least one new slice. I going to protest with our small group of old hippies. It’s a warm-up for next week’s No Kings. That should be good for another slice.
