Saturday, the rain never let up. We left the house only when we had to.
Sunday, we awoke to sunshine and birds chirping. A text from a neighbor coaxed us outside early. We met for a quick walk that turned into hours outside walking, playing basketball at the park, and turning our faces towards the sun-soaking it all in.
Sunday chores called us back indoors but not for long. Another text from a neighbor summonsed us back outside. “We’re hanging on the driveway if you want to join.” Join we did.
We caught up with neighbors who, like us, had sought solace in their homes all winter long. The warm temperatures and sunshine called us out of hibernation and the solitude that winter had forced upon us all. Today’s gratitude belongs to the sun for reacquainting us with our neighbors and promising us all that spring is coming.
Where There Is Joy 
We’ve had a few days of oddly warm weather, too. It’s lovely to be outside & dream of Spring with our neighbors.

Jessica, hooray for those beautiful early spring days. Reacquainting with neighbors–what a great by-product of the great weather. (We stayed in all day Saturday and Sunday because of the cold, cold wind. But looking forward to some warmer days this week.)

It’s the opposite in my part of the world. Summers are notoriously hot and force everyone to stay indoors. But as soon as the weather gets cooler, it’s picnics and outdoor hangouts galore. Right now, it’s perfect outdoor season here in Saudi Arabia.

There’s nothing like sunshine after the winter, and hanging out with neighbors in yards is the icing on the cake. We need more of those times in our lives! Glad your Sunday was warm and sunshiny.

What a gift to have such warm relations with your neighbors! I suppose we are all in our own ways solar powered and your post certainly highlights the ways that sunlight and mild temperatures naturally seem to boost our moods.

The sun was very welcome yesterday. 70 degrees in DC. It reminds me of th Walt Whitman line, “Turn your face to the sun and the shadows will fall behind you” …or something like that.

“Gratitude to the sun” – yes – spring is indeed coming. I went to the park yesterday along with a hundred others. The parking lot overflowed! My poem today is called hibernation – so we are on the same wavelength!

The warmer weather has been so nice! I love that you’re close with your neighbors. I have always wished we were. We’re friendly with many of them but not close enough to really hang out. That’s great you have such great neighbors!
