Dining Al Fresco

“We’re seating people out there tonight,” the hostess told us as she motioned out to a cute outdoor area.

“Fine with us,” Arnauld said as we followed the hostess outside to a table. It was our thirteenth wedding anniversary and we decided to celebrate with a proper date night- maybe our third since having kids!

We were just finishing up an appetizer when our guest arrived, a bee. Arnauld began to swat it away. “Don’t send it back our way,” a man from the table next to us said. “He was just here. We already did our time.”

We laughed as we continued to watch the bee buzz around before happily landing on an uneaten sashimi taco.

“Just let him stay,” I suggested. “He’s settled now.”

And so we did…

  1. What a sweet way to welcome a pest guest. Cheers to you for celebrating the pollinator by letting him stay settled. And congratulations on 13 years of marriage! It was great that you could BEE together for a dinner celebration!

  2. Jessica,
I’m so glad you let the bee crash your celebration. I love bees and know their lives need our protection. Great pic, BTW. Yesterday I read a FB post Andrew Smith shared in which he described bee gardens in Triste. He told about a restaurant w/ outdoor seating and the many bees buzzing around and a man who sat at his table killing them. I asked if he told the bees to get the man and said I’d tell them to sting his eyes. I’m on team bee!
