Sundays are for prepping for the week. In our house, that means I make things for the girls’ lunchboxes-to make lunch packing during the week easier. I also make mason jar salads for myself. If I didn’t make a week worth of lunch ahead of time, I’d never have lunch! This week, we will also be celebrating my mom’s birthday. So baking a cake was also on our Sunday to do list.

This morning, my girls came to my room a few times before I got up, to let me know that they were hungry. When I finally dragged myself out of bed, they had decided that they wanted waffles…and they were going to help with every step of the process.
As we finished up measuring ingredients for the waffles, I asked Rose to put the baking powder and baking soda back in the pantry. “But you didn’t put in any baking soda yet,” Adi reminded me. “Thank goodness I’m here.” I smiled and thought to myself, maybe if there wasn’t so much chaos going on in here, I wouldn’t have forgot an ingredient!
Later, as we prepped overnight oatmeal, I was struggled with a ja of honey that had crystalized. “Do we have any more honey anywhere?” I asked to my crew of helpers.
A few minutes later, Adi and Rose emerged from the pantry holding a fresh jar of honey. As I took the jar from Adi, she again said, “Thank goodness I’m here.”
Here are a few photos from our morning…trying to fit in all the things before the Slice of Life Live Meet Up! I don’t know what I’d do without all these “helpers.” To borrow Adi’s words, “Thank goodness they’re here.”

Awe… what a great way to spend a Sunday! I love that you meal prep for the entire week – very impressive. Enjoy those hectic moments with your kids, before you know it they will be grown and flown!

It was lovely to get glimpses into your kitchen. All of your kids are involved in preparing for the week ahead. Not only do you get to spend time together, you’re giving them wonderful life skills!
Ari is my kiddo who helps in the kitchen. While he often slows me down, I always invite him to join me since I know it will help me more to have him beside me in the long run.

Love the repetition – glad they are there too!

I’m envious of your sou chefs. Mine are very furry, less helpful, and generally just stand or lie around in the way.
