Dear Fellow Slicers,
I feel the need to apologize. I’ve felt a tinge of guilt all day. You see, I’ve tried to comment on as many slices as possible each day. I begin and end my day reading and commenting…but today I ran into an unexpected obstacle.
This morning started out like any other. I came home from my early morning walk and settled on the couch for ten minutes of slice reading with my coffee. I clicked on my friend Tracey’s blog first. Our friend Dawn had already commented about crying into her coffee after reading Tracey’s words and I was going to comment, “Same here,” only I got a message that said “comments closed.”

I texted Tracey right away to let her know that maybe she had accidentally closed her comments. She was still on the treadmill but she said she’d look into it.
I read another slice and was all set to comment when, I got another “comments closed” message. I clicked around and found no rhyme or reason for this. I’ve been slicing for ten years and this has never happened before. I texted Tracey back to let her know it wasn’t just a her problem. I texted the TWT team to see if they had any ideas. It didn’t appear to be impacting anyone else. “I must be banned,” I texted the group.
I drove to work with the nagging feeling that I had left a box unchecked. But the day soon got busy and, I’ll be honest, commenting slipped my mind for a bit.
But tonight, as I sat down to read and commenting slipped, I was delighted I was able to leave a comment for my friend Elena. Next, I read Erika’s post and I got another “comments closed” message.
Currently, I’m able to comment on some but not all posts- so that’s an improvement from this morning. But, still not great. I wish I could have slapped a post-it note on all the posts I read today, evidence of my admiration and appreciation.
So, if you did not receive a comment from me yesterday, that doesn’t mean I didn’t read your words and have anything to say in return.
Hopefully tomorrow things will be running smoothly again.
Happy Writing!
Jess

Your commitment is beyond! Amy and I had the same issue with the Jetpack app and the WordPress reader today. It wasnt just you! I noticed it this morning when I went to post my slice to the TWT post. I was able to do so by going straight to the site.
So many more slicers this year; we are collapsing their systems haha!!

I was looking for your slice tonight, and couldn’t find a Where There is Joy post. Then I remembered what you had said this morning. I wonder what is really behind this. I hope it has nothing to do with my post, since I know you commented successfully on that. Maybe they thought you needed a break.

I’m sure they’re connected! Ha! Several other people seemed to have similar issues. You’re off the hook.

This happened to me this morning on the Jetpack app! And I’ve been experiencing lots of glitches all month where certain blogs I’m subscribed to are “locking” posts and making me subscribe again. Jetpack can’t handle us!

Maybe that’s it. I was reading that commenting too often on commenting with links can glad accounts! I’m sorry you’ve had ongoing issues.

So strange. It has been a bit glitchy. I know a few people say some days they get my post, some days they don’t!

No need to apologize for things beyond your control!

Jess,
Jetpack was being a butthole to me yesterday, but restarting my phone fixed the problem. I was worried I’d have to uninstall the app and that would result in losing access. It was nerve-wracking.

Restarting is a great idea! I did uninstall the app and reinstall and that did not solve the problem. If I run into more trouble, I’ll take the tip. Thank you!
