“How many more until Wren?” the most common question asked by my two youngest daughters yesterday during their big sister’s dance company showcase. Wren is in nine dances this competition season and she got to “go public” with them for the first time during the showcase. Her dances were scattered across two shows spanning twelve hours and nearly 150 total dances.
Despite having many friends and knowing many of the kids dancing, Adi and Rose were most eager to see their sister perform. During our car picnic in between shows, the two younger girls debriefed show one. “Wren’s solo was my favorite solo.” They also discussed their favorite group numbers, all featuring their sister.
There are many times these days where I find myself channeling the words my mom often spoke to me and my siblings in the thick of our bickering and arguing, “someday you’ll be best friends.” These small moments, like those at the dance show, let me know that they do care about one another. There is hope for them becoming besties.
There always hope! They ere born into sisterhood but their friendship grows over time and you get to watch it grow in moments like this!

Oh your girls are getting so big! It’s been a while since I checked in here. They are beautiful and love seeing the picture and hearing about Wren’s solo and their excitement for it. I have one sister and there really is nothing like her in my life- so grateful to have someone who’s known me from the start, has a shared history, and yet is so different from me and can push me to see things I’m reluctant to! How lovely to have three girls who can be besties now and in the future.

I’m glad you captured the dialogue of this moment. It clearly shows these sisters are besties!

Catching this moment – where they unknowingly reveal a “strong preference” for their sister – is amazing. These tiny glimmers really are the foundation of long-term friendship. I can’t imagine my life without my sisters, though we fought like mad when we were growing up. And I’m with Kathleen: when did they get so *big*?!

I love seeing this picture and hearing how excited the girls were for Wren’s performances. It’s taken some time, but my own sisters are a vital and wonderful part of my life. We just enjoyed our first ever sister-getaway this summer and it was awesome! We’re hoping to make it a yearly tradition. Here’s to sisters!
