Recently, when scrolling through Instagram, this reel created by Allie Joy, an art therapist who shares her work and ideas @thejoyoftherapy, caught my eye. In the short clip, Allie shares how she has used paint chip poetry and with clients.

Paint chip poetry was a new idea for me, but I knew I had to try it. I decided to give it a whirl with my kids while on vacation. We selected a few paint chip samples from Home Depot, we went with Behr, as recommended by Allie. Then, when we got home, we worked on writing poetic lines using each paint color name. When we were done, we had fun arranging the poetic lines into a collective poem you can read below.

What a FANTASTIC idea… even during school with my class. Remind me again when it gets to that time of year 😜

This would be great to do in class! My girls used to LOVE the way paint colors were described on the paint chips. Writing poetry from these items would be so much fun!
