This week, I have stumbled and fallen down countless times. With every trip and fall, I’ve been picked up, dusted off, and built back up by so many amazing people. While it feels like a black cloud has settled overhead, when I look up, I see so many bright spots. Those bright spots are the people.
I’ve doubted myself as an educator ever since I’ve been thrust into unchartered waters. I’ve seriously contemplated giving up. Yet, every time I turn around, there is someone else offering support and care. I’ve felt weak, depleted, and just so sad. I’m used to being the supporter, but lately, I’m the supported- fueled by the strength of others.
Today, I reread an old favorite: Find Your Marigold: The One Essential Rule for New Teachers. I’m overwhelmed as I realize that my garden is bursting with marigolds. Over the last 16 years, I’ve planted myself among the best people, “protected and encouraged.”
These are uncertain times. The people are the bright spots, for sure.

I think few of us humans escape bouts of imposter-syndrome. And these are strange times. But I know that your light is a BEAM! Shine on. xxx

You have been my marigold so many times. It’s an honor to be yours.

p.s. Love this line – It’s a crazy-hard, mammoth task, but you know what? We’re going to kick that mountain’s ass.

The marigold piece is a touchstone one-it paints the bigger picture that we all need to be remember. You are one strong being – mother, teacher, friend, wife and you will learn and grow from this “crazy-hard, mammoth task”. Like T said, you can do hard things and we will be right there with you to celebrate and and support just as you have done, and continue to do, for so so many! xoxo

This is great. I’m sorry it’s been so hard. You are certainly due to be supported instead of always being the supporter all the time.

Your title says it all and I couldn’t agree more! Connections – new and old – have been powerful throughout these past months. Hang in there … if you ever need anything give me a shout!

I’m right there with you. This is an unusual time & I think many of us are feeling uncertain. Heck, I missed two weeks of blogging and have barely commented on blogs I love (like yours!). I love that you went back to basics – a book for first year teachers and PEOPLE. Hugs to you.
